Smiths Detection

Challenge:

Smiths Detection had identified PCR technology for portable veterinary diagnostics system for identification of animal diseases such as Foot-and-Mouth, Avian Flu and Bluetongue. The challenge was to create a product capable of being used in the field, without the need to transport samples back to a laboratory.

Solution:

KD worked closely with Smiths Detection and technology partners to realise the concept in a practical, user-friendly format.  KD project contributions included:

• configuration concept and models for usability assessment
• product layout and visual communication of testing procedure
• refinement of user touchpoints
• touch screen graphic user interface design
