Celebrating Raspberry Pi's 5th Anniversary

We are excited to announce the new Raspberry Pi Zero official case has now been launched.

To celebrate the company’s fifth anniversary, Raspberry Pi brought out a brand new addition to the Pi family - The Raspberry Pi Zero W.  This new variant of the Zero integrates more functions into the product with wireless LAN and Bluetooth connectivity, meaning its full feature list now reads:

  • Mini-HDMI port
  • Micro-USB On-The-Go port
  • Micro-USB power
  • HAT-compatible 40-pin header
  • Composite video and reset headers
  • CSI camera connector
  • 802.11n wireless LAN
  • Bluetooth 4.0

Having designed the hugely successful original case (selling 1 million units in its first year, globally), we were delighted when asked to create the official case for the new Pi Zero W.

Our team carefully designed the new injection-moulded case, ensuring the same design language from the official case was brought through.  The carefully considered design, includes a short camera adapter flexi, a set of rubber feet to ensure stability and features three interchangeable lids (as seen in the image above) to allow users to use their imagination and adapt the case to suit their needs:

  • A blank one
  • One with an aperture to let you access the GPIOs
  • One with an aperture and mounting point for a camera

Like with the original case, the new design has been built to ensure easy access to the electronics inside to encourage experimentation and has a compact composition making it robust enough to be used from school bag to boardroom, fulfilling the needs of users, from school children to tech savvy professionals.
