Kelly Dawson speaking at 7th Packaging Innovation Programme, Frankfurt

We are excited to share that our Head of Strategy Kelly Dawson will be one of the keynote speakers at the 7th Packaging Innovation Programme, in Frankfurt on 1st October 2018.

This conference has established itself as one of the packaging industry’s key events, bringing together senior decision makers from the world’s leading companies from various Industries. Kelly will be sharing her talk ‘CLOSING THE LOOP and looking towards a plastic(less) planet’ which shares real examples that demonstrate a truly circular economy, as well as providing concrete actions steps for attendees and their businesses to explore how to look past plastic.

Ahead of the event, we cornered Kelly and asked her a few quick questions about the plastic challenge that everyone is talking about…

Kelly, why do you see there being a growing need for sustainable thinking & more specifically a focus on plastic?

“There is a growing need from our clients and the planet to move away from single use plastic. We all need to think creatively about how to tackle such a complex challenge and we believe design is a catalyst to inspire and drive change. We’re seeing consumers call for alternatives, so there has never been a better time to pioneer new innovative solutions.”

So how can companies tackle the challenge of single use plastic?

“Companies are at a cross roads.  Do you maintain a linear business model and seek out alternative materials to plastic? Or do you strive for circularity and focus on closing the loop through behaviour change and new business models? It’s not easy to know where to start, which is why we’re considering different types of challenges companies might look to tackle at different stages of the innovation funnel. I’m excited to share some of this new thinking at the 7th Packaging Innovations event in Frankfurt.”
