RASPBERRY PI WINS UK TOP ENGINEERING MACROBERT AWARD

30.06.17

Kinneir Dufort are very proud to congratulate Raspberry Pi on winning the prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering MacRobert Award 2017. The award is the UK's longest running and most prestigious national prize for engineering innovation and recognises outstanding innovation, tangible societal benefit and proven commercial success.

Dr Frances Saunders, of the MacRobert Award judging panel described how such a small engineering team had "redefined home engineering”. She went on to say:

The Raspberry Pi team has achieved something that mainstream multinational computer companies and leading processing chip designers not only failed to do, but failed even to spot a need for.

ABOUT RASPBERRY PI

Raspberry Pi, the low-cost credit-card sized computer, launched in 2012, with the aim of perhaps selling a few thousands units. In hoping to redefine the education of computing science, the company has exceeded its own expectations, going on to become the UK’s all-time best-selling computer in history, with total sales now topping 14 million.

We first worked with Eben and the team to design the official case for the original Raspberry Pi, and have continued to work with them on other models, such as the Pi Zero W.

From everyone at Kinneir Dufort, we are delighted to see their hard work recognised. Special congratulations also go to the two other finalists: VisionRT, another of our amazing clients, plus cyber-security company, Darktrace.
